Removal of Reactive Black 5 Dye by Banana Peel Biochar and Evaluation of Its Phytotoxicity on Tomato

چکیده
Removal of Reactive Black 5 (RB5) dye from an aqueous solution was studied by its adsorption on banana peel biochars (BPBs). The factors affecting RB5 such as pH, exposure time, concentration, adsorbent dose, particle size and temperature were investigated. Maximum 97% removal obtained at pH 3 with 75 mg/L adsorbate concentration biochars. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) scanning electron microscopy (SEM) used to characterize the material. data equilibrium analyzed Langmuir Freundlich isotherm models. experimental results best reflected maximum 7.58 mg/g capacity. Kinetic parameters explored pseudo-second order found suitable which that rate controlled physisorption. Thermodynamic variables exhibited sorption process feasible, spontaneous, exothermic in nature. Banana biochar showed excellent regeneration efficiency up five cycles successive adsorption-desorption. maintained >38% potential even after phytotoxic study benign nature BPB-treated tomato seeds.
